Hannah and Tyler have both been writing for Nano Wrimo, so they needed a break from words and things, so they talk about what they have done for the month, and even the last year. They also talk the future and the Lil Lovecraft that's coming soon.
Chill with us as we drink hot cocoa and talk about books and stories and stuff.

Sylvia Plath
Friday Nov 12, 2021
Friday Nov 12, 2021
Sylvia Plath is remembered as one of the most dynamic poets of the mid-20th Century. Her poems and novel The Bell Jar typify the confessional style that was emerging in the 1950s. Highly intelligent and creative from childhood, Plath also suffered from severe depression that manifested in her early college years. Hannah and Tyler talk about her upbringing, early success, tumultuous relationship and marriage with Ted Hughes, and death at age 30.
Note to listeners: If you’re struggling with depression, thoughts of suicide, or just need someone to talk to, call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at (800) 273-8255. It’s free and available 24/7.

This is the second part of our Stephen King episode!
The master of horror has collected interesting anecdotes and real-life characters since before he was a teenage grave digger, drawing on those experiences for future stories. Hannah and Tyler dive into the stories behind some of King's most famous stories. And of course... Tyler goes off the rails.
Hannah read Haunted Heart: The Life and Times of Stephen King, by Lisa Rogak.

Lauren Coontz is an Army veteran who studied anthropology in college before deciding to become a journalist. She’s also a fairy tale enthusiast, which is what we planned to spend the bulk of the episode discussing, but we went off on a million tangents including human sacrifice, her least favorite sergeant and his inappropriate shorts, and how prosecutors may have screwed up the investigation into infamous murderer Charles Manson.
As a warning, Lauren quite possibly swears more than any guest we’ve had on yet, so if that offends you, f*** off.

Aesop‘s Fables
Monday Sep 20, 2021
Monday Sep 20, 2021
Generations of children have grown up hearing stories like "The Tortoise and the Hare," "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," and "The Ants and the Grasshopper." They're known as Aesop's Fables, but Aesop himself may have been nothing more than a legend. Hannah and Tyler discuss his life story (true or not) and the impact of his works some 2,500 years later.
We’re already gearing up for our Halloween flash fiction special! Email your spooky, scary, or silly stories to lewisandlovecraft@gmail.com no later than October 4. Submissions should be 500-700 words.

Correspondence: Patrick Patton
Tuesday Sep 07, 2021
Tuesday Sep 07, 2021
He's a thirty-something husband and father who spent my early years reading Marvel comics, writing and illustrating comics of his own, learning the secrets of the ooze, the balance of the force, the deeper magic from before the dawn of time, awakening the wind fish, shooting marbles and slamming pogs, collecting and trading Pokémon cards, rescuing the Tribals from Mizar and his drones, restoring Hyrule and becoming the Hero of Time, searching the scriptures, studying eschatology, and feeling just as—if not more—fascinated with the worlds created by Shakespeare, Dickens, Salinger, and Steinbeck; as with those of Rowling, King, Lewis, and Tolkien.
He's P.S. PATTON!!!!!
It was so awesome to meet someone who is as dedicated to their own self improvement as Patrick is. Be sure to look out for his up incoming novel, and go pick up his short. All this work can be found on his website.

The Brothers Grimm
Wednesday Sep 01, 2021
Wednesday Sep 01, 2021
Once upon a time, two brothers embarked on an ambitious quest to collect the folk stories and fairy tales of Germany in hopes of uniting the fractured fatherland around shared traditions. They were the Brothers Grimm, and although they probably didn’t realize it in their lifetime, their diligent work would impact literature, movies, and other art forms for centuries to come. Join Hannah and Tyler as they discuss the life, legacy, and weirdly close relationship of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm.

The US withdrawal, originally slated to be complete by August 31, has not been going smoothly. The Taliban took control astonishingly fast, seizing province after province and, finally, on August 15, they took over the capital city, Kabul.
Hannah speaks with Matt Fratus, a history writer at Coffee or Die Magazine (that's where I work) and host of the Late Night History podcast. Matt has written numerous pieces about the Taliban’s original rise to power and reign in Afghanistan during the ‘90s and offers useful context for the present situation. We also talk about the group’s impact on arts, culture and education, and discuss some books and other media people can look into if they’re interested in learning more about the situation.
